Import your data

Bulk-import items, customers, and suppliers from a spreadsheet.

The fastest way to get started is to import your existing data. Fiddle’s Import app walks you through it for each type of record.

What you can import

  • Inventory items, locations, and item types
  • Customers and suppliers
  • Supplier pricing
  • Sales orders

Run an import

  1. Open the Import app and choose what you’re importing (for example, Items).
  2. Download the template for that record type.
  3. Fill it in, keeping the column headers exactly as provided.
  4. Upload your file.
  5. Map columns if your headers differ from the template.
  6. Review the preview, then run the import.

Import in dependency order: items and locations first, then anything that references them (supplier pricing, sales orders). Importing out of order causes “record not found” errors.

Fixing errors

If rows fail, Fiddle reports the row number and reason. Common causes:

Error Fix
Duplicate SKU Remove the duplicate or update the existing item
Unknown unit Use a measurement unit that exists in your account
Missing required field Fill the column flagged in the error

Fix the flagged rows in your file and re-upload — successfully imported rows aren’t duplicated as long as the SKU matches.

Test with a small file (5–10 rows) first to confirm your mapping is right before importing thousands of records.
