Import customers

Bring your customer list into Fiddle from a spreadsheet.

Updated June 21, 20261 min read

Importing your customers up front means you can attach them to sales orders and quotes without re-typing details for every order.

Prepare the file

  1. In the Import app, choose Customers and download the template.
  2. Enter one customer per row with a unique name.
  3. Fill the required columns, then add optional details:
    • Contact name, email, and phone
    • Billing and shipping addresses
    • Default currency and payment terms

Run the import

  1. Upload your file and map columns if your headers differ.
  2. Review the preview — Fiddle flags duplicate names and malformed emails.
  3. Run the import and confirm the row counts.

Keep the customer name consistent with what you’ll use elsewhere. If you later import sales orders, they match to customers by this exact name.

Updating existing customers

Re-running the import matches on the customer name. Edit the rows you want to change, re-upload, and Fiddle updates those records instead of creating duplicates.

Addresses and contacts attached to a customer carry over to new sales orders and quotes automatically, so it’s worth getting them right at import time.

Next steps

Continue to Import suppliers and supplier pricing, then Import sales orders.
