Import sales orders

Bring open sales orders and their line items into Fiddle.

Importing sales orders is usually the last migration step, because each order references customers and items that must already exist in your account.

Before you start

Confirm that the customers and items your orders reference are already imported. Sales-order rows match to them by customer name and item SKU.

Prepare the file

  1. In the Import app, choose Sales orders and download the template.
  2. Put each order line on its own row.
  3. Repeat the order number across every line that belongs to the same order — Fiddle groups rows that share an order number into one order.
  4. Fill in the customer name, item SKU, quantity, and unit price per line.

Run the import

  1. Upload your file and map columns if your headers differ.
  2. Review the preview — rows with unknown customers or SKUs are flagged.
  3. Run the import and confirm the order and line counts.

Importing an open order reserves stock for its items, the same as creating the order by hand. Check your available quantities afterward if numbers look low.

Import only open orders. Fulfilled historical orders are better kept in your old system or as a report than re-created as live, stock-reserving records.
