Transfer stock between locations

Move stock from one location to another while keeping both counts accurate.

Updated June 21, 20261 min read

A stock transfer moves quantities from one location to another. It decreases the source and increases the destination, so your total stays the same and both locations stay correct.

Create a transfer

  1. Go to Inventory → Transfers and click New transfer.
  2. Choose the source location and the destination location.
  3. Add each item and the quantity to move. You can only move what’s available at the source.
  4. Save the transfer.

Direct vs. in-transit transfers

Short moves can complete immediately. For longer shipments between warehouses, Fiddle tracks the goods as in transit until they arrive.

Stage Where the stock sits
Draft Planned; no movement yet
In transit Left the source, not yet at the destination
Received Arrived and added to the destination’s on hand

In-transit stock isn’t available at either location until you receive it. Confirm receipt at the destination to make it sellable again.

For lot- or serial-tracked items, pick the specific lots to move so traceability follows the stock to its new location.

Next steps

After receiving, check understanding stock levels to confirm the numbers landed where you expect.
