Master BOM editor
Build and maintain a product's bill of materials from one editable line-item screen.
The master BOM editor is where you define what goes into a product — every component, its quantity, and its unit of measure — on a single editable table.
Open the editor
- Go to Production → BOMs and open a product, or create a new bill of materials.
- The editor shows the product at the top and its component lines below.
Add and edit component lines
- Click Add component and pick an item.
- Enter the quantity per — how much of that component one unit of the product needs.
- Set the unit of measure; Fiddle converts automatically if it differs from the item’s stocking unit.
- Repeat for every component, then Save.
Edit any cell inline. Use the row checkboxes to select lines for bulk actions such as delete.
Quantities are per single unit of the finished product. When you raise a work order, Fiddle scales them by the build quantity.
Keep the BOM accurate
| Field | What it controls |
|---|---|
| Quantity per | Component used per one unit produced |
| Unit of measure | How the quantity is expressed and converted |
| Wastage / scrap % | Extra material expected to be lost in production |
Add a small scrap percentage to components that are routinely trimmed or spilled so your stock forecasts and costs stay realistic.
Next steps
Once the BOM is complete, you can build it into assemblies and sub-assemblies or use it on a work order.
