Settings overview

Where to find account-wide configuration and what each settings area controls.

Settings is where you configure how Fiddle behaves for your whole account — defaults, formatting, documents, and the rules that the rest of the app follows.

How settings are organized

Most account-wide options live under Settings, grouped by what they affect:

Area What it controls
General & fulfillment Company details, default location, and fulfillment behavior
Custom fields Extra fields you add to items, orders, and contacts
Print templates Layout of POs, invoices, packing slips, and labels
Notifications Who is emailed for which events
Numbering Prefixes and sequences for document IDs
Tax Tax rates and how tax is applied
Units & measurement Units of measure, currency, and number formatting

Who can change settings

Settings are account-wide, so they are usually limited to admins. Changes apply to everyone, so confirm before editing shared values like numbering or tax.

Changing a default — such as your base unit or document prefix — affects new records going forward, not records already created. Existing documents keep their original values.

Before you start

Set up the foundational items first: units and currency, then tax, then numbering. Later areas like print templates and custom fields build on those.

Next steps

Start with general and fulfillment presets to set your company defaults.
