Fiddle or Stocky: the short answer

Shopify Stocky was delisted on February 2, 2026 and stopped working on August 31, 2026. Shopify now covers basic purchase orders, transfers, and stock counts in the Shopify admin, which is enough for many retail-only shops. If you also make your products, track lots and expiry dates, sell wholesale, or want purchasing and sales to sync with QuickBooks Online or Xero, Fiddle is an operations system for brands and manufacturers that connects to Shopify and handles those jobs in one place. Fiddle plans start at $299/mo; lot & expiry tracking is included from Growth ($499/mo) up.

What happened to Stocky

Stocky was included with Shopify POS Pro. Shopify retired it in stages and now points merchants to the inventory tools built into the Shopify admin.

  1. February 2, 2026

Delisted from the Shopify App Store

New merchants could no longer install Stocky, and existing merchants could not reinstall it.

  2. August 31, 2026

    Stocky stopped working

The app and its APIs stopped functioning, so Stocky can no longer manage inventory or create purchase orders.

  3. At least 90 days after August 31

    Read-only export window

Shopify says merchants keep read-only access to export data for at least 90 days — roughly the end of November 2026. Shopify has not published an exact end date, so export what you need now. Historical purchase orders cannot be imported into Shopify, and suppliers cannot be exported from Stocky.

What you get beyond Stocky

Purchasing that keeps working

Purchase orders with approvals, partial receipts, landed costs, and supplier pricing in one place — tied to the same stock your Shopify store sells from.

Lot and expiry tracking

Record lots and expiry dates as stock is received, made, and shipped, then trace a lot forward to every order and shipment it went into. Growth and up include it; it is not a separate add-on.

Production, not just reselling

Bills of materials and work orders turn raw materials into finished goods and keep component stock accurate as you make product.

Shopify, wholesale, and accounting together

Shopify and Faire orders and direct wholesale orders draw from one inventory record, and invoices, purchase orders, and bills sync to QuickBooks Online or Xero.

Guided migration

Our team helps you bring items, suppliers, supplier pricing, and stock levels over from your Stocky exports or spreadsheets.

How moving from Stocky to Fiddle works

Most of the work is getting clean data out of Stocky while you still can. We help with the rest.

  1. Export from Stocky now

Use Stocky’s built-in reports to export purchase orders, stocktakes, and anything else you want to keep. Shopify says suppliers cannot be exported, so keep a list of supplier names, contacts, and lead times.

  2. Connect Shopify

Connect your Shopify store so products and orders come into Fiddle, and let Fiddle update Shopify stock levels for each location you map.

  3. Import items, suppliers, and stock

Import items, suppliers, supplier pricing, lots, and starting stock levels from CSV or Google Sheets, with our team checking the mapping. Recreate any purchase orders that are still open.

  4. Add what Stocky never had

When you are ready, add bills of materials, work orders, lot tracking, and wholesale customers — on your schedule, not all on day one.

Guided migration is available from Stocky, Katana, Cin7, or spreadsheets. Ask about it when you request a demo.

When Shopify’s built-in inventory may be enough

Stocky itself is no longer an option, but you may not need a separate system at all. Be honest with yourself about these before you switch to anything.

  • You only resell finished goods through your Shopify store and Shopify POS. Shopify now handles purchase orders, transfers, stock adjustments, and stock counts natively in the admin and POS, at no extra cost.
  • You have a small catalog with no lots, expiry dates, or manufacturing, and no wholesale channel. A dedicated operations system is probably more than you need.
  • Demand forecasting for a retail catalog is the main thing you miss from Stocky. A forecasting-focused Shopify app may be a closer fit than Fiddle, which is built for brands that also buy materials and make product.

Frequently asked questions

Shopify delisted Stocky from the App Store on February 2, 2026, and Stocky stopped working on August 31, 2026, when its APIs were also turned off. Shopify gives merchants read-only access to export their data for at least 90 days after that date.
For now. Shopify says read-only export access lasts at least 90 days after August 31, 2026 — roughly the end of November — but has not published an exact end date. Export purchase orders, stocktakes, and reports now. Shopify notes that historical purchase orders cannot be imported into Shopify and suppliers cannot be exported from Stocky.
Shopify points merchants to the inventory tools built into the Shopify admin and POS: purchase orders, transfers between locations, stock adjustments, and stock counts. If that covers how you work, you may not need another app.
Yes. Fiddle connects to Shopify (including multiple stores): products and orders come into Fiddle, Fiddle can update Shopify stock levels for each mapped location, and shipments go back to Shopify with tracking. Fiddle also handles Faire and direct wholesale orders, and syncs with QuickBooks Online and Xero.
Stocky was included with Shopify POS Pro; Fiddle is a separate subscription. Fiddle plans start at $299/mo, and lot & expiry tracking is included from Growth ($499/mo) up. Every price is published on fiddle.io/pricing.
Fiddle imports items, suppliers, supplier pricing, lots, and stock levels from CSV or Google Sheets, and our guided migration helps you map your Stocky exports. Because Shopify says suppliers cannot be exported from Stocky, we can work from a supplier list you keep. Purchase orders are not imported from a file, so recreate the ones that are still open and keep your Stocky export as the record of past orders.
Not in the same way. Fiddle’s reorder alerts are rule-based: a par level, or a reorder point worked out from your safety stock, supplier lead time, and the last 30 days of usage. Shortages from orders, work orders, and demand plans roll up into buy suggestions grouped by supplier that you can turn into draft purchase orders. Fiddle does not use a statistical or seasonal forecasting model, so if that is your main need, a forecasting-focused app may suit you better.
